In 2017, the UA Faculty Senate invited postdocs to join two standing committees. This was the first time that postdocs had served in the Senate and the outcome has been so successful that an invitation has been extended to have a postdoc join a third committee: the Student Affairs Policy committee. The Student Affairs Policy committee considers matters and forwards action items to the Faculty Senate relating to the health, safety, and welfare of the student body, including financial aid, the Student Code of Conduct, Code of Academic Integrity, admission registration, residency classification, high school and community college relations, recruitment and retention policies, Commencement, and matters brought forth from the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.

If you are interested in learning more about the experience of serving on Senate committees, contact postdocs Thomas Moon (thomasmoon@email.arizona.edu), who serves on the Research Policy Committee, and Keaton Wilson (keatonwilson@email.arizona.edu), who serves on the Academic Personnel Committee. They will be happy to answer any of your questions.

To apply for this competitive position, please email Jenny Hoit (hoit@email.arizona.edu), Director of Postdoctoral Affairs, with an attached letter addressed to Dr. Michael Brewer, Vice Chair, Faculty Senate, University of Arizona explaining

(a) why you would like to join the Student Affairs Policy Committee, and

(b) your activities (research, teaching, service, etc.) at the University of Arizona.

Applications must be received by 12 pm on Monday, July 15, 2019.
