Professional Service Opportunities

Performing professional service is an effective way to learn about the inner workings of organizations and a way to network with others who can have a positive influence on your career. It is also an excellent CV builder! For example, showing that you have served as a reviewer or served on committees provides evidence of your status as an expert in your discipline and as a leader in your organization. Listed below are university-level service opportunities for postdocs at the University of Arizona.

Use the form below to sign up to serve as a reviewer for one of the University of Arizona Postdoctoral Affairs grants or awards. Note that these grants and awards are due at various times of the year and that the number of reviewers needed differs with each cycle; thus, we are not able to predict when or if you will be invited to review.

Research Development Services (RDS) coordinates the University of Arizona's review of proposals for internal grants as well as pre-proposals for limited submissions (funding opportunities where the funder has limited the number of applications from an organization). Completing this form will add your details to the reviewer database, so that you can be contacted if a relevant opportunity arises. For information on serving as a reviewer for federal grants, see this page.

The University of Arizona Postdoctoral Association (UAPA) is a postdoc-run organization that collaborates with Postdoctoral Affairs. The UAPA aims to help connect fellow Postdocs at the U of A, support their professional development, and engage with the broader university community, advocating on their behalf.  For more information and how to volunteer, contact uapostdocassociation@gmail.com.

The University of Arizona Faculty Senate invites postdocs to serve on four standing committees. There are currently three committee openings for postdocs to serve on the (1) Academic Personnel Policy Committee, (2) Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, (3) Research Policy Committee, and (4) Student Affairs Policy Committee. Service on Senate committees has several benefits that include learning about the inner workings of a university, networking opportunities with faculty and administrators, and a high-level service entry on your CV. There will be occasional calls for postdoc applications to join the Faculty Senate. For more information, email postdoc@arizona.edu.

The University of Arizona Staff Council has as its goal to enhance the quality of career life for Classified and University Staff by providing advocacy, information, and resources.
