UArizona postdoc Burçin Mutlu Pakdil of Steward Observatory and the Department of Astronomy has been selected as a 2020 TED Senior Fellow. She joins a prestigious group of scientists, artists, activists, and others who have been recognized for their work to improve our world.

Description: Postdoctoral Research Development Grants (PRDG) were established to support University of Arizona (UA) postdoctoral scholars in the development of their independent research skills to advance their career goals. 

The Intelligence Community (IC) Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program offers scientists and engineers from a wide variety of disciplines unique opportunities to conduct research in a wide range of topics relevant to the Intelligence Community. The research is conducted by the Postdocs, while working in partnership with a Research Advisor and collaborating with an advisor from the Intelligence Community.

The family study room in the Weaver Library, 4th floor, room 438, is now open to all UA student parents/guardians, faculty, postdocs, staff and their children. This project, an initiative of the Graduate & Professional Student Council (GPSC), the Office of the Provost, and the Libraries, has been in progress for several months.

This competition, inspired by the UArizona’s Grad Slam and UCSF’s Postdoc Slam, offers postdocs an opportunity to present their research to a diverse and non-specialist audience, receive feedback, and win prizes. Presentations must be 3 minutes or less and include no more than 6 slides.

The Office of Instruction and Assessment is offering three five-day mini-courses, January 6-10, 2020: Fine-Tuning Your Course as a Road Map for Learning, Course-Level Assessment, and Effective Online Discussions. 

Keaton's research is in the mathematical foundations of analyzing large-scale, high-dimensional data. Dimensionality of data can be described as the number of parameters used to describe it.  For instance, an image from our phones has over 10 million pixels, each of which has a red, green, and blue color value.

Dr. Maria Vittoria Mazzamuto is a postdoc at the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment.
