The family study room in the Weaver Library, 4th floor, room 438, is now open to all UA student parents/guardians, faculty, postdocs, staff and their children. This project, an initiative of the Graduate & Professional Student Council (GPSC), the Office of the Provost, and the Libraries, has been in progress for several months. Furnishings include adult tables/chairs, child-friendly furniture, and children’s books and toys provided by GPSC. The space has fresh paint, new flooring, and furniture in place to welcome the families that will be using it.

The Provost’s Office is also sponsoring a mural contest to UA students with a $500 cash award. The deadline for the mural design submissions is January 6, 2020, 5 p.m., so please share this information if you know students who would be interested. The mural selection committee plans to announce the winner by mid-January. The room will be closed for two weeks during the mural installation in late January-early February, and MarComm is collaborating with the Provost’s Office and GPSC to publicize the official opening of the new room in early 2020.

The card scanner for the room needs to be upgraded, which may happen by the end of this week. Until then, users must request access to this room at the service desk in Weaver Library.
