Congratulations to The University of Arizona President’s Office Award Winners 2021!

The University of Arizona President’s Office officially recognized the winners of the 2021 Outstanding Postdoctoral Scholar Award and the 2021 Excellence in Postdoctoral Mentoring Award on January 19, 2022. Irene Shivaei (Outstanding Postdoctoral Scholar) and Dr. George Gehrels (Excellent Postdoctoral Mentor) were honored in a ceremony alongside other University of Arizona luminaries working to change the future of our state, nation, and world.

Dr. Shivaei is a NASA Hubble fellow and a postdoctoral scholar in the Astronomy Department; she has a passion for education and is involved in multiple public outreach activities including Mentoring and Education in Science for Tucson (MESCIT).  Dr. Gehrels is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Geosciences; he credits much of his success to his collaboration with students, postdocs, and faculty colleagues. These awardees are shining examples of the many postdocs and faculty mentors who have contributed so much to the University of Arizona through their innovative research, scholarship, and compassion.

The 2022 Outstanding Postdoctoral Scholar Award and the Excellence in Postdoctoral Mentoring Award will be announced within the next few weeks.
