The third Arizona Postdoctoral Research Conference took place on September 24th at the Virginia G. Piper Auditorium in Phoenix during National Postdoc Appreciation Week. This collaborative event between the University of Arizona and Arizona State University brought together talented postdoctoral scholars from the two universities as well as the Mayo Clinic to showcase their exciting research projects in the areas of Life Sciences, Medicine and Healthcare, Engineering, Technology, among others. 

We invite you to submit your nominations for Outstanding Postdoctoral Scholar Award and Excellence in Postdoctoral Mentoring Award. These awards are important to the postdoc community as they highlight the incredible work done by postdocs and their mentors.

The Intersections Science Fellows Symposium (ISFS) is a postdoc-led, faculty-advised initiative that advances diversity, equity, and inclusion in academic science by showcasing the work of mid- to late-stage postdocs from diverse backgrounds in the life sciences and providing opportunities for them to network with >20 hiring institutions and receive 1:1 mentoring and professional development. Applications are now OPEN!

This third annual Arizona Postdoctoral Research Conference will be held in person this year on September 24 in Phoenix, AZ. The theme of the conference is “Potential for all research to promote equity and inclusion,” and it will feature a keynote lecture from Dr. Michael Johnson, UArizona Professor.  The conference will include oral research presentations and a poster session.  Postdocs from any Arizona research institution are encouraged to submit an abstract.  The conference is a competitive, peer-reviewed research symposium.

Since 2017, the UArizona Faculty Senate has invited postdocs to be on standing committees. There are currently three committee openings for postdocs to serve on the (a) Academic Personnel Policy Committee, (b) Student Affairs Policy Committee, and (c) Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.

Postdoctoral Affairs is pleased to announce the 2021 Postdoctoral Research Development Grant (PRDG) awardees winners. The awardees will go on to conduct an independent research project (New Project PRDG) or obtain additional training specific to their field (New Skills PRDG). Congratulations!

Postdoctoral Affairs wishes to congratulate Dr. Emily Bray on her recently published work on biology's role in dogs' communication abilities. Her research provides evidence that puppies are biologically prepared to interact with humans.
