See here the events organized by the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs to celebrate our wildcat postdocs this week!

We are pleased to announce this new series of online panels for postdocs, graduate students, faculty, and the whole community! The panels in this series will focus on discussing mentoring as a crucial activity for the development of postdocs as mentors and mentees. Panelists will provide insights about their experiences building successful mentoring relationships and will share the best strategies on how to make mentoring a powerful tool for professional development and collaborative growth. The Arizona Postdoctoral Research Conference is an event hosted every year during National Postdoctoral Appreciation Week to showcase the novel research conducted by postdoctoral scholars across Arizona. It is sponsored by the University of Arizona and Arizona State University. Register now to attend!

The Intersections Science Fellows Symposium (ISFS) is a postdoc-led, faculty-advised initiative that advances diversity, equity, and inclusion in academic science by showcasing the work of mid- to late-stage postdocs from diverse backgrounds in the life sciences and providing opportunities for them to network with >20 hiring institutions and receive 1:1 mentoring and professional development. Applications are now OPEN!

This third annual Arizona Postdoctoral Research Conference will be held in person this year on September 24 in Phoenix, AZ. The theme of the conference is “Potential for all research to promote equity and inclusion,” and it will feature a keynote lecture from Dr. Michael Johnson, UArizona Professor.  The conference will include oral research presentations and a poster session.  Postdocs from any Arizona research institution are encouraged to submit an abstract.  The conference is a competitive, peer-reviewed research symposium.

Since 2017, the UArizona Faculty Senate has invited postdocs to be on standing committees. There are currently three committee openings for postdocs to serve on the (a) Academic Personnel Policy Committee, (b) Student Affairs Policy Committee, and (c) Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.

Postdoctoral Affairs is pleased to announce the 2021 Postdoctoral Research Development Grant (PRDG) awardees winners. The awardees will go on to conduct an independent research project (New Project PRDG) or obtain additional training specific to their field (New Skills PRDG). Congratulations!

Postdoctoral Affairs wishes to congratulate Dr. Emily Bray on her recently published work on biology's role in dogs' communication abilities. Her research provides evidence that puppies are biologically prepared to interact with humans. 

We are pleased to recognize two dedicated postdoctoral mentors who received Honorable Mentions for the 2021 Excellence in Postdoctoral Mentoring Award! Dr. Erika Hamden, an Assistant Professor in Astronomy and the Steward Observatory, and Dr. Robin B. Harris, a Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
