Last Fall, postdocs at UArizona gathered to share food and conversation. On December 9th, a few dozen of the university’s brightest minds and their families gathered for a potluck hosted by the UArizona Postdoctoral Association (UAPA) with support from the office of Postdoctoral Affairs.

Postdoctoral Research Development Grants (PRDG) were established to support University of Arizona (UA) postdoctoral scholars in the development of their independent research skills to advance their career goals. Applications are open!

Dr. Lila Wollman is a postdoc at the Department of Physiology.

Lydia Jennings, a postdoc at UArizona, completed a 50-mile honor run in March of this year dedicated to Indigenous scientists past, present and future. She has since been featured in a short documentary by Patagonia. Congratulations, Dr. Jennings!

Postdoctoral Affairs would like to congratulate Dr. Li Zheng on the publication of her co-authored article that explores spatial cognition, specifically using fMRIs to understand the brain’s contributions to temporal and spatial representation. 

Dr. Karen Olsen is an astrophysicist and Computer Vision scientist. As a postdoc at the UArizona, her research focused on galaxy evolution and on the generation of synthetic observations of simulated galaxies.

Dr. Matthew Dodson was a postdoc at the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology.

This workshop will focus on NIH Postdoctoral Grant Awards, specifically the F32, K99/R00, and LRP. Participants will learn about the mechanisms of those grants, strategies for writing a successful proposal, tips and tricks, and how to understand the review process.

The third Arizona Postdoctoral Research Conference took place on September 24th at the Virginia G. Piper Auditorium in Phoenix during National Postdoc Appreciation Week. This collaborative event between the University of Arizona and Arizona State University brought together talented postdoctoral scholars from the two universities as well as the Mayo Clinic to showcase their exciting research projects in the areas of Life Sciences, Medicine and Healthcare, Engineering, Technology, among others.
