The 2022 Arizona Postdoctoral Research Conference (APRC), co-sponsored by University of Arizona (UArizona) and Arizona State University (ASU), was held in Tucson on September 22nd during National Postdoctoral Appreciation Week. Postdocs from across the state presented their research findings to an attentive audience who were treated to a wide variety of topics related to Old World animal migration, nutritional behavior, diabetes screening in Africa, historical paintings, heat and air pollution in a nearby large city, soil compositions, language and aging, bats, and much more. The keynote speaker, Dr. Janice Mak from ASU, offered an insightful and uplifting perspective on postdoc life and life in general. Postdocs from the two institutions enjoyed getting to know one another and … who knows … maybe even planning some collaborative projects!

The APRC is a completely postdoc-run conference which offers opportunities for postdocs to gain experience speaking to a diverse audience, add a state-wide peer-reviewed presentation to their CV, network with fellow postdocs with intersecting research interests, and create community with other postdocs within and across Arizona institutions. We thank this year’s organizing committee of postdocs from ASU (Qiwen Cheng, Francheska Figueroa, Ting Liu, Debalina Maitra, Tahina Ramiaramanantsoa) and UArizona (Holly Andrews, Rob Jackson, Nicole Jimenez, Subodh Samrat, and Daniel Nuyujukian, Committee Chair).
