Dr. Julia Yarrington is a Licensed Psychologist and Postdoctoral Scholar in the Personalized Treatment Lab under the mentorship of Dr. Zachary Cohen. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2024 from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she studied risk for and treatment of depressive and anxiety disorders. Her current work focuses on (1) addressing the immense need for evidence-based treatments by providing digital interventions to college students and (2) increasing the impact and reach of these interventions by training paraprofessionals to support their delivery through brief cognitive behavioral therapy-based coaching sessions. Clinically, Dr. Yarrington specializes in treating anxiety presentations, obsessive compulsive disorder, and trauma-related concerns.
Dr. Timothy Kistner graduated with his PhD in Human Evolutionary Biology (with a focus on Exercise Physiology) in 2023. During his PhD, Tim studied the metabolic functions of myokine IL-6 to test the hypothesis that IL-6 acts to allocate energy, particularly free fatty acids, towards skeletal muscle during and after physical activity. Tim joined the Katsanis-Simpson lab as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in late 2023 and is now a T32 Postdoctoral Fellow affiliated with the University of Arizona Cancer Center. He is primarily interested in exploring the biological mechanisms that underpin the protective effect of exercise on cancer outcomes. Tim is currently working on characterizing exercise-induced immune mobilization and how secreted cytokines from skeletal muscle impact immunometabolism and immune redistribution following exercise.
