Congratulations to the Honorable Mentions for the 2021 Outstanding Postdoctoral Scholar Award! 

We are pleased to recognize two accomplished postdoctoral scholars who received Honorable Mentions for the 2021 Outstanding Postdoctoral Scholar Award! 

Dr. Caroline Kopruszinski, a postdoc in the Department of Pharmacology, was nominated because she “demonstrated excellence in research, remarkable productivity, outstanding skills in communication and leadership in the scientific community and in the laboratory.”

Dr. Kopruszinski has collaborated in over 20 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals, mentored undergraduate students, trained laboratory staff, and has outstanding science communication skills. Dr. Kopruszinski’s innovative work will be the first to provide a link between stress and mechanisms that dysregulate the hypothalamus, which can enhance the likelihood of a migraine attack. 

Dr. François Lanoë, a postdoc in the Department of Anthropology, was nominated because, as his nominators wrote, “His nuanced approach to scientific paleoecology is capturing a wealth of new information on the landscapes that were encountered by North America's first inhabitants and their more recent cultural descendants.”

As part of the Blackfoot Early Origins Project, Dr. Lanoë trains tribal “para”- archaeologists in field methods, who are able to obtain well-paying jobs with Cultural Resource Management companies and State/Federal agencies upon completion of this program. He is also currently developing an Interactive Atlas Platform that will incorporate archaeological, paleontological, ethnographic, and cartographic data to be used in K-12 education of Blackfoot children. Besides his postdoc responsibilities at UArizona, Dr. Lanoë has taught an undergraduate course, and maintains independent archaeological research agendas in the Alaskan Arctic and in Morocco.
