Postdoctoral Small Event Grants

The Postdoctoral Small Event Grants program has been created to provide postdoctoral scholars with opportunities to organize and put on events that benefit the postdoc community. Such events may include (but are not limited to) conferences, networking gatherings with local experts or employers, invited speaker(s), etc. Postdoctoral Affairs will fund three Small Events Grants each fiscal year. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis (first submitted, first reviewed).


  • Any group consisting of at least two postdocs can apply for funding
  • The maximum award is $1,500 per application to be used within six (6) months of receiving funding


  • Each applicant’s CV
  • 500-word narrative of the initiative addressing
    • The potential impact that the proposed initiative would have on postdoctoral scholars
    • The feasibility of the plans for executing the proposed initiative
  • An itemized budget that includes the amount requested and justification

Prohibited items:

  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Awards, trophies, gifts, and gift cards
  • Events not being open to the entire UArizona postdoc population

Awardees will be required to submit a post-grant report within 6 months of the event date. The report must include:

  • A description of the event and photos if available

  • An evaluation of its success and how it benefited the organizers’ career path and the postdoc community as a whole

  • Attendance data

  • Verification of expenses
